Description
Pirates of Joshua Tree at Witching Hour – Limited Edition Giclee Print made from an original painting on canvas from 2024.
In 1919 Joseph Smeaton Chase called the iconic plant “A misshapen pirate with belt boots hands and teeth stuck full of daggers” in his book California Desert Trails. He began “One can scarcely find a term of ugliness that is not apt for this plant“ and went on to say “A landscape filled with Joshua trees has a nightmare effect even in broad daylight: at the witching hour it can be almost infernal”. I find this a curious statement, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and I find these so called trees to be beautiful and fascinating. Their wild and unexpected shapes are memorising to me (and pirates are cool).
The original painting has been made into a limited edition giclee print of 50 in 2sizes with a 2-3cm white border.
To make the Giclee, the artwork is printed onto acid free 300gsm smooth paper. This is done using a fine art inkjet printer with pigment based inks, which produce a quality long lasting product on archival paper.
